Heart Diamond: An Answer to Blood Diamond and An Ultimate Valentine’s Gift

London, United Kingdom, - 23 January 2007 -- Anniversary Diamonds’ launch of personalised diamond is a timely answer to the industry issue of conflict diamonds, recently raised in a high profile movie Blood Diamond. The company, headquartered in London, UK is launching a laboratory-created personalised diamond product line “Heart Diamond”, made from hair.

The company creates diamonds, which are made in a machine under high pressure, high temperature conditions from carbon with addition of extract from hair. “By adding hair we create a unique precious stone – a diamond with an equivalent of DNA in it”, says Natasha Starkell, director of Anniversary Diamonds Limited. “There are scientific ways to prove that the diamond contains the same set of microelements as the hair. So we can really prove that the diamond is uniquely related to the person whose hair were used”, she added.

The ability of the technology to encapsulate a person’s hair carbon creates an exceptional opportunity to commemorate special event, such as a birth of a baby, or a special relationship. With consumer awareness to the issue of the conflict diamonds raised to a fever pitch by Blood Diamond starring Leonardo Di Caprio, the interest in laboratory created diamonds, identical to the natural diamonds but free of conflict issues, continues to grow. “Diamond grading laboratories have expensive equipment that allows them to distinguish laboratory created diamonds. So, one can always be certain that they came from a machine rather than a conflict zone” adds Ms. Starkell.
